2nd Team All League:
Caylie Bahr
Keilani Laulu-Finley

Each coach gets to nominate 6 players from their own team. That coach is not allowed to vote for their players. These girls were voted as the best in the league by all the other coaches in our league! Only St. Pat's and Albany had more girls make All League.

Congratulations Michelle, Kayla, Caylie and Keilani!

NCS: Jets @ Acalanes Dons

The Jets' great season has come to an end, losing their opening round NCS game to the Acalanes Dons. It took 11 innings for the #5 seeded Dons to take down our #12 seeded Jets; final score 2 - 1.

Michelle Gorman pitched the entire game, giving up only 5 hits in 10.1 innings. With a little more offensive support, Michelle could have been the winning pitcher in this game.

Each team only managed 5 hits, with the Jet Hits coming off the bats of Bhaani Singh (2), Michelle Gorman, Lachelle Laulu-Finley and Kayla Simonson.

Michelle's Hit was a looooong DOUBLE to the base of the wall in right center, driving in Kayla who had Walked earlier.

Great season girls. Making it to the NCS was a great feat, and you should all be proud!

Jets @ Piedmont Highlanders

The Jets Won their Third In A Row today against the Piedmont Highlanders by a final of 8 - 3.

Kayla Simonson started the game and pitched the first 2 innings, giving up all 3 of Highlander runs. Kayla was having trouble finding her groove, and Coach went to Michelle Gorman.

Michelle had no trouble this afternoon, Shutting Down Piedmont and allowing only 2 hits over the last 5 innings and Striking Out 11. Way to go out on a high note, Michelle!

The Jets Busted the Game Open in the 4th, getting 6 Runs on 4 Hits! Regina Kim got the Run Parade started with a DOUBLE, Driving In 2 Runs. Taylor Webber Singled to Drive In Regina, then Scored on a Piedmont error. Bhaani Singh and Isis Wilson both Scored on a Caylie Bahr Single and the damage was done.

In the last inning the Jets added 2 more Runs. One on a Keilani Laulu-Finley HOME RUN(her 5th of the year!) over the left field fence!! And one came on a walk to Kayla, who then scored on a Michelle Gorman ground out.

Way to go, Jets! Nice way to end a great season; with a 3-game Win Streak!

Jets vs St. Mary's Panthers

The Jets Won their second in a row this afternoon, but it wasn't easy. Final score 2 - 1.

Michelle Gorman got the Complete Game Victory, giving up only the 1 run and 4 hits in 7 innings. Michelle Struck out 7 and walked 2.

The Jets got both of their Runs (fortunately all they would need) in the first inning. With 2 outs Keilani Laulu-Finley hit a BOOMING DOUBLE over the left fielders head. Kayla Simonson then got a Solid Single to Score Keilani. Kayla ultimately Scored the Winning Run on a wild pitch. Lachelle Laulu-Finley and Regina Kim each had Singles for the Jets.

It was Senior Day today. We will miss you Caylie Bahr, Michelle Gorman and Taylor Webber.

Jets @ Kennedy Eagles

The Jets have started a new Win Streak today, whipping the Kennedy Eagles by a final of 16 - 3 in a mercy-rule-shortened game.

Kayla Simonson got the Win, giving up 3 Runs in 5 innings and Striking Out 8.

In addition to 12 Hits, the Jets received 8 Walks and 2 batters were hit. Multiple Hit Players included Cassie Hill (2), Caylie Bahr (2), Lachelle Laulu-Finley (2) and Taylor Webber (2).

Multiple RBI's were Driven In by Cassie (2), Caylie (2), Taylor (2), Kelsey Magno (2) and Keilani Laulu Finley (2). Single Hit Players included Kelsey, Keilani, Michelle and Isis Wilson. Single RBI Players included Lachelle and Isis.

Run Scorers included Michelle and Taylor with 3 each, Caylie and Keilani with 2 each; and Lachelle, Kayla, Bhaani, Rosa Gomez, Isis and Cassie with 1 each.

Jets vs St. Patrcik/St. Vincent Bruins

Well I got it right about the Win Streak coming to an end, but I'm VERY glad to eat my words about the Jets begging for mercy after 5! The Jets held their own, only losing by a final of 1 - 5! That's right, the Jets held the #1 St. Patrick/St. Vincent Bruins to just 5 Runs!

Kayla Simonson took the loss, giving up 12 Hits. Kayla Struck Out 5 and kept the Bruins off balance with an array of pitches and excellent defense by her teammates.

The Jets were limited to 4 Hits offensively, with Taylor Webber and Michelle Gorman each getting 1 Hit, and Kayla getting 2 Hits. Michelle's Single drove in Regina Kim with the Jets' only Run of the game.

Defensively the Jets were led by an inning-ending Double Play - Caylie Bahr to Regina Kim to Michelle Gorman. Fine catches were made in the outfield by Taylor Webber (2), Isis Wilson and Bhaani Singh.

The Jets made it 5 in a row today, with a rout over the Holy Name Monarchs. Final Score 11 - 0.

Michelle Gorman was the Winning Pitcher, giving up 2 Hits and Striking Out 8 in a game shortened to 5 innings.

The Jets started quickly with Keilani Laulu-Finley getting her 4TH HOME RUN of the year in the first inning. Kayla Simonson was on base via a single before the HR. Keilani later got a bases-loaded TRIPLE, ending up with 5 RBI's, 2 Hits and a Run Scored. Kayla got 2 Hits and Scored twice; she also got on base via a Monarch error and being hit by a pitch. Kayla also had 3 RBI's.

Caylie Bahr Scored 2 Runs and drove in 1 while going 1 - 3. Michelle Walked 3 times. Isis Wilson Scored 2 Runs while Regina Kim, Bhaani Singh, Lachelle Laulu-Finley and Taylor Webber Scored 1 Run each. Taylor had the remaining 2 Hits for the Jets.

While this game was "@" Holy Names, it was played at Lower Washington. It was a make-up game for a rain out a couple of weeks ago.

Jets vs Salesian Pride

The Jets made it 4 in a row today with a nail-biter over the Salesian Pride, winning by a final score 6 - 5!

Kayla Simonson earned the Victory in relief of Michelle Gorman. Kayla gave up 1 Run in 3 innings.

Taylor Webber led off the 7th with a DOUBLE to Deep Left Center, went to 3rd on a wild pitch, and Scored the Winning Run on a wild pitch!

Keilani Laulu-Finley was 2 - 2 with 2 RBI's. Regina Kim got 1 Hit and Scored 3 Runs. Caylie Bahr got the other Jet Hit; a DOUBLE over the left fielders head. Michelle Gorman and Lachelle Laulu-Finley Scored the other 2 Jets Runs.

Way to Win it in the bottom of the 7th, Jets! A fitting way to beat the Pride, who beat the Jets earlier in the season in the bottom of the 7th. Payback is sweet!

Jets @ John Swett Indians

The Jets are on a streak! Their 3rd Win in a row came at the expense of the John Swett Indians by a final of 12 - 0.

Michelle Gorman was the Winning Pitcher again, allowing NO Earned Runs while Striking Out 13 batters in 7 innings!

Keilani Laulu-Finley was the Big Hitter today, getting 4 Hits including a DOUBLE, Scoring 4 Runs and getting 4 RBI's.

Kayla Simonson got on base 5 more times with 3 Hits, a Walk and reached on an Indian error. Kayla also had a DOUBLE, 2 RBI's, and Scored a Run.

Caylie Bahr had 2 Hits including a DOUBLE, and Scored 3 Runs.

Regina Kim, Kealoha Pedro and Kelsey Magno each got a Single for the Jets as well. Regina and Kelsey also Scored 2 Runs each. Lachelle Laulu-Finley also had an RBI today.

The Jets got their second Win in a row this afternoon, beating up on St. Josephs 23 - 6.

Michelle Gorman was the Winning Pitcher again, allowing 3 Earned Runs in the mercy-rule shortened game.

The Jets emphasized their Hitting Skills today, with a total of 16! Including a HOMERUN by Keilani Laulu-Finley! DOUBLES were Hit by Lachelle Laulu-Finley, Kealoha Pedro and Regina Kim. Kayla Simonson went 5 for 5, Scoring 4 Runs! Michelle Gorman Walked 4 times. Bhaani Singh continued her Hot Hitting, adding 2 more Hits and 5 RBI's! Kelsey Magno and Taylor Webber also contributed Singles for the Jets.

Keilani had 4 RBI's. Caylie Bahr, Regina, Lachelle, Kealoha and Taylor all had 2 RBI's each.

Run Scorers included Caylie (2), Cassie Hill (3), Keilani (3), Lachelle (2), Bhaani (2), Taylor (2), Michelle (1), Kealoha (1) and Kelsey (1).

The Jets got back on the Winning side today with a 14 - 0 Thumping of the Piedmont Highlanders.

Michelle Gorman was the Winning Pitcher, giving up only 4 Hits in 5 Innings. Michelle also Struck Out 7 batters.

The Jets offense came awake this afternoon with 10 Hits. Bhaani Singh, Keilani Laulu-Finley and Kayla Simonson had 2 Hits each. Regina Kim, Michelle Gorman, Taylor Webber and Lachelle Laulu-Finley each had 1 Hit. Bhaani led the team with 3 RBI's; while Caylie Bahr, Michelle, Kayla and Lachelle each had 2.

Winning their second game in a row, the Jets overwhelmed the St. Mary's Panthers 11 - 0.

Michelle Gorman got the Win, pitching a 2-Hit Shutout while Striking Out 14 in 7 innings!

Offensively the Jets were led by Reggie Kim who Scored 3 times by Walking twice and reaching base on an error. Caylie Bahr, Lachelle Laulu-Finley and Kayla Simonson each Scored twice, while single Runs were scored by Michelle and Isis Wilson.

Taylor Webber led the RBI parade with 3, while Kayla and Lachelle each had 2. Michelle and Bhaani Singh each had 1 RBI. Michelle and Lachelle each had 2 Hits, while Bhaani, Cassie Hill, Taylor and Kayla had 1 Hit each.

The Jets suffered their 2nd loss in a row today at the hands of the Salesian Pride. Final score 3 - 2.

Michelle Gorman got the loss in the game, getting a minimal amount of offensive support.

Offensively, the Jets were only able to manage 4 Hits and 2 Runs against the Pride. The Finley sisters, Lachelle and Keilani, got all the hits for the Jets. Each girl got a DOUBLE and Single, with Keilani getting an RBI and Scoring a Run. Kelsey Magno Scored the 2nd Run as a pinch runner for Michelle Gorman.

Next game not until Wed April 14th at home against the Kennedy Eagles. Have a great Spring Break girls.

Jets @ St. Patrick/St. Vincent Bruins

The Jets suffered their 2nd League loss today to the St. Patrick/St. Vincent Bruins, losing by a final of 11 - 1 in a game shortened by the mercy rule.

Michelle Gorman got the loss in todays game, against what is probably the best team we have faced all year.

Offensively the Jets were only able to manage 4 Hits and 1 Run against the Bruins. Kayla Simonson got the Jets' 1st Hit in the third inning. Michelle sacrificed Kayla to 2nd and Regina Kim moved Kayla to 3rd on a Single. Isis Wilson then hit a clutch 2-out Single to plate Kayla with the Jets only Run. Michelle had the Jets only other Hit.

Regina was hit twice by the hard throwing pitcher from the Bruins, and ultimately had to leave the game.

Jets vs St. Joseph Notre Dame Pilots

After going through 3 innings of nothing, the Jets broke open a tight game with 7 Runs in the 4th, and 4 more in the 6th inning, beating the St. Joseph Notre Dame Pilots 11 - 0.

Kayla Simonson got the win in a game shortened to 6 innings because of the mercy rule. Kayla gave up no Runs and only 2 Hits. She also struck out 8 Pilot hitters.

Offensively the Jets had 11 Hits, with Keilani Laulu-Finley providing all the muscle with a HOMERUN, DOUBLE, Single, 4 RBI's and 2 Runs scored. Caylie Bahr and Kayla Simonson had 2 Hits each and scored 2 Runs each. Caylie had 2 RBI's and a DOUBLE, while Kayla had 1 RBI. Michelle Gorman Walked 3 times, had a Single and Scored twice. Isis Wilson, Regina Kim and Lachelle Laulu-Finley each had a Hit, with Isis getting 2 RBI's as well. Taylor Webber got the remaining RBI on a fielders choice.

Keilani also showed off her defensive skills throwing out 2 base runners trying to steal second.

Kayla Simonson and Caylie Bahr shared the pitching today, with Kayla working the first 3 innings and Caylie the last 2. Kayla was the winning pitcher.

Offensively, the Jets got 13 Hits, with Caylie Bahr, Kayla Simonson and Keilani Laulu-Finley getting 3 Hits each. Michelle Gorman and Regina Kim each got BIG DOUBLES, while Lachelle Laulu-Finley and Bhaani Singh got a Single each. Keilani and Michelle each had 3 RBI's, while Caylie and Kayla got 2 each. Lachelle Laulu-Finley and Taylor Webber had 1 RBI each. Caylie, Kayla and Keilani scored 3 Runs apiece. Michelle, Regina Kim and Kelsey Magno Scored 2 Runs each; and Lachelle, Cassie Hill, Taylor Webber and Bhaani each Scored 1 Run.

Michelle Gorman pitched the complete game, allowing only 5 Runs (4 earned) to a very tough Cougar team.

Offensively the Jets got 6 Hits, with Caylie Bahr getting 2 of them. Michelle Gorman got a BOOMING DOUBLE, while Kayla Simonson, Isis Wilson and Taylor Webber each had Singles.

Defensively Isis Wilson made a highlight catch in deep Left Center, while Caylie Bahr made numerous fine plays at shortstop.

Kayla Simonson got the mercy-rule-shortened victory, giving up 1 unearned Run while striking out 12 Eagles. Offensively the Jets got only 3 Hits, but were hit by a pitch 6 times and Walked 7 times. Keilani Laulu-Finley hit a BIG TRIPLE, while Kayla Simonson & Kelsey Magno each hit Singles. Keilani had 3 RBI's, while Regina Kim & Isis Wilson had 1 RBI each. Runs were scored by Caylie Bahr (2), Kayla Simonson (2), Regina Kim (2), Cassie Hill (2), Kelsey Magno (2), Keilani Laulu-Finley, Michelle Gorman, Isis Wilson & Rosalie Gomez.

The big Hit of the evening for either team was Keilani Laulu-Finleys' MASSIVE HOME RUN in the 1st inning! Keilani had 2 of the 7 Jet Hits. Caylie Bahr had 3 Hits and scored a Run. Kayla Simonson had a Single and 1-RBI; and Isis Wilson had a Single.

The Encinal Jets have started the 2010 season with a 6 - 2 victory over The Skyline Titans of Oakland.

Michelle Gorman got the pitching start and gave up only 2 Hits in 7 innings' work. She allowed 2 Runs, but both were unearned. Michelle also drove in 2 Runs to help out her own cause. Kayla Simonson got on base 4 times with 3 Singles and a walk, scoring 1 Run. Lachelle Laulu-Finley went 1-3 with an RBI. Lachelle was robbed of a 2nd Hit by a diving catch from the Skyline Center Fielder. Keilani Laulu-Finley went 1-4 with 1-RBI and scored 2 of the Jet Runs. Caylie Bahr was 1-4 and scored a Run. Regina Kim and Taylor Webber each scored a Run. Regina was hit by a pitch, while Taylor showed excellent patience at the plate walking twice.

2010 Encinal Jets Varsity Softball

A big welcome to our new Head Coach Sharon Perkins and Assistant Coach Jeff Saulovich! They have been taking a close look at all the girls for the past two weeks, and have picked your 2010 Encinal High School Varsity Softball Team.

Welcome newcomers Cassie Hill, Kelsey Magno & Keilani Laulu-Finley to The Jets. And a big welcome back to our returning players Lachelle Laulu-Finley, Caylie Bahr, Regina Kim, Taylor Webber, Desire Jackson, Rosalie Gomez, Kealoha Pedro, Bhaani Singh, Kayla Simonson, Isis Wilson & Michelle Gorman.

The 2010 game schedule has also been set, with our first game this Wednesday against our cross-town rivals, The Alameda Hornets.
